Recently, S&P Global, the world’s largest provider of financial market indices, released its first issue of the Sustainability Yearbook 2023 (China Edition). Based on S&P Global’ s 2022 Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) on nearly 1,600 companies across 60 industries from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR, Baidu was one of 88 companies listed in the S&P Global’ s Sustainability Yearbook 2023 (China Edition).  

The Sustainability Yearbook (China Edition) is designated to identify and commend companies with sustainability advantages in their individual industries, headquartered in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR. S&P Global conducts assessments on three sustainability areas that domestic and international investors care most about, namely Environment (including climate strategy and GHG emissions), Social (including human capital development, privacy protection and content responsibility), Governance (including risk management, innovation management) to highlight companies scoring in the top 15% of its industry with different types of recognition.

According to the Yearbook, Baidu was included as a Sustainability Yearbook Member. Only four companies have been listed in the “Interactive Media, Services & Home Entertainment” industry to which Baidu belongs.  

In May 2023, Baidu released it 2022 ESG Report, systematically disclosing its progress and achievement in six modules, namely Enhancing Corporate Governance, Nurturing Talent, Improving Services, Building Trust, Promoting Green Ideas, and Contributing to Society. Mr. Robin Lee, Baidu’s co-founder and Chief Executive Officer stated in his message that the mission of Baidu is to “make the complicated world simper through technology”, which is consistent with the ESG concept. They both aim to empower human development and drive sustainability in society, economy, environment and scientific innovation.  

We will make unremitting efforts on the path towards sustainability.
