Key Environmental Performance32
Baidu strictly complies with the Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Energy Conservation Law of the People’s Republic of China, and other environmental laws and regulations. Our overall energy consumption was 72,249.6 tons of standard coal equivalent, representing an energy intensity of 2.3 tons of standard coal equivalent per person.
*Direct emissions, including losses, emissions from stationary combustion sources, boilers, kitchen equipment, and refrigerators
*Indirect emissions, including those from purchased electricity, steam, and heating
*Other indirect emissions, such as domestic sewage, and emissions from business travels and buildings
*The quantity of greenhouse gas emissions is expressed as a carbon dioxide equivalent. We sourced the data and sum of emission factors from authoritative international and domestic institutions. The fossil fuel emissions factor is based on the low calorific values of fuels provided in China Energy Statistical Yearbook 2017. The greenhouse gas emission coefficient is provided in 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories. The electricity-related emissions factor adopts corresponding values in China Regional Grid Average Carbon Dioxide Emission Factors in 2011 and 2012 and IPCC.
