On April 26, 2023, Baidu held the second seminar of the carbon sink series and had an in-depth discussion with the Institute of Marine Science and Technology of Shandong University on the mechanism of negative ocean emissions, the existing ocean carbon sink certification methodologies at home and abroad, and the practice of ocean carbon sinks.

During the seminar, the Institute of Marine Science and Technology of Shandong University proposed that Baidu can support ocean carbon sink data management systems through artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and algorithm models. Baidu expressed its willingness to make continuous efforts in the field of ocean carbon sink, to jointly promote the improvement of the standard or methodology of ocean carbon sink measurement and monitoring, and to advance relevant standards and scientific research technologies in this field, so that ocean carbon sinks can be green with social and economic benefits.

The seminar has provided a strong scientific support and a clear practical path for Baidu in the field of ocean carbon sinks.
