From September 25th to 26th, 2024, the Baidu Cloud Intelligence Conference themed "Intelligence · Leap" was held at the Beijing Zhongguancun International Innovation Center. Baidu AI Cloud made the latest releases on infrastructure, large models, development toolchains, AI-native applications, and other cloud and AI products. It shared the most in-depth and rich practices of large model industry deployment, and the event also featured hundreds of thematic speeches and an exhibition of smart technology covering tens of thousands of square meters, achieving significant upgrades in scale, content, and experience.

According to the data verification by the authoritative third-party organization Bureau Veritas, this conference utilized carbon emission reduction credits from wind energy that comply with international standards, fully offsetting the 182 tons of carbon dioxide generated by the event, thereby creating a "carbon-neutral conference."

During the planning, execution, and windup stages of the 2024 Baidu Cloud Intelligence Conference, several emission reduction strategies were put into place, which reduced the quantity of plastic and kitchen waste that was released. The following are the particular actions:

1. During the preparatory phase, the organizing committee of the conference invited Bureau Veritas to inspect the conference site and the invitations extended to participants, ensuring that the conference adhered to green and environmentally friendly principles from the outset.

2. During the execution phase, the conference employed electronic office practices to minimize the consumption of paper products; increased the utilization rate of reusable items; encouraged attendees to use public transportation for low-carbon travel; matched the catering planning with the number of attendees to reduce waste; and rationally scheduled the use of high-power electrical equipment to reduce electricity consumption.

3. In the windup phase, after verification and evaluation by the authoritative third-party organization Bureau Veritas, the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the conference were fully offset by the carbon credits generated from renewable energy wind power projects following the windup of the event, achieving "carbon neutrality" for the conference.

Since Baidu officially announced its goal of achieving "carbon neutrality" at the corporate operations level by 2030 in June 2021, Baidu has been continuously deepening its green practices around six pathways: data centers, office buildings, carbon offsets, intelligent transportation, intelligent cloud, and supply chains, contributing to society's progress towards a green and sustainable future.
